Instructions

TIP: Depending on the type of chunky yarn you are using, you may notice that if you use tight tension or pull the yarn too tightly, the threads can tear and fall apart. Using a magic ring can aggravate this. Therefore, instead of a magic ring, I like to use the chain 2 method. Simply chain 2 and start crocheting in the second ch from hook. Continue working in a spiral as normal.

Head

Start in YELLOW yarn (shown in PURPLE for clarity):

R1: Sc 6 in MR [6]

R2: Inc x 6 [12]

R3: (Sc, inc) x 6 [18]

R4: (Sc, inc, sc) x 6 [24]

R5: (Sc 3, inc) x 2, sc, Bobble Stitch (see Bobble Stitch instructions below), sc, inc, sc 2, Bobble Stitch, inc, (sc 3, inc) x 2 [30]

NOTE: Be careful and notice after the Bobble Stitch, the next stitch is sort of hidden (Photo H). Make sure to count your stitches for each round.

BOBBLE STITCH INSTRUCTIONS

{YO, then pull up a loose loop in the next stitch. YO and pull through 2 loops on hook.} Repeat everything in the bracket 4 more times. You will now have 6 loops on your hook. YO and pull through all 6 loops. You have now completed one Bobble Stitch (Photos A-H).

R6: Sc 3… We will now form the petals (6 petals total). Everything in the brackets will form a single petal and some stitches are crocheted together in 1 stitch as indicated. Work this section in front loops only.

Change to WHITE yarn (Photo I);

Work in FLO: {Sc + hdc in the 1st st, dc x 2 in the 2nd st, dc in the 3rd st, hdc + sc in the 4th st, sl st in the 5th st} x 6 (Photos J-L)

Cut off WHITE yarn and invisible FO. Weave in the tail.

NOTE: There is no round count for the petals. The 3 sc in the beginning of the round helped to position the petals.

R7: Change to YELLOW/PURPLE yarn; continuing off the head, work in BLO (Photo M): {Sc around} [30] (Photo N)

R8: (Sc 3, dec) x 6 [24]

R9: (Sc, dec, sc) x 6 [18]

R10: (Sc, dec) x 6 [12]

Stuff.

R11: Dec x 6 [6]

FO and sew hole closed (Photos O).

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

1. Sew on the face details. Using GREEN (or any color) yarn, sew on eyes and mouth. Sew on a few vertical lines for the eyes and sew a “V” shape for the mouth. Using PINK yarn, sew on a couple horizontal lines right under each eye (about 1 stitch away from the GREEN yarn) (Photo 1). You can experiment and sew on any facial expressions!

2. Sew the body onto the head at an angle. The top of the body should be sewn between rounds 3 and 4. The legs should be on the bottom and aligned in center with the eyes on top. Sew the front legs closer to the flower petals (Photos 2-4).
